Reflection on Longevity

Last week, we had the chance to get away for a few days to visit some good friends in Arizona. It was a welcome break from midwest winter, and great chance to enjoy one of my favorite things - hiking. Being outside in the fresh air, sunshine, and beautiful surroundings is always a reminder to me that movement, and my healthy body, are truly gifts. This time, like many, involved carrying my daughter in our hiking backpack (she’s getting big enough that she also hoofs it for stretches). The extra weight adds to the intensity of the workout, and is also a powerful reminder of why a long-term perspective of fitness is so important.
